We are happy to inform that, we have completed the the first phase of the project on creating a standardized Drupal curriculum for Drupal companies as planned. We have compiled and published our Drupal training curriculum on the groups.drupal.org wiki under the Curriculum and Training group. We are now looking to get feedback from other Drupal companies and Drupal developers on the curriculum and the training materials. We also would like to invite developers from the community to contribute towards making this curriculum better. The curriculum is available under the Curriculum and Training group. Drupal groups wiki is kind of difficult to navigate on its own. We have created a table of contents for all the contents published under this project. You can access the table of contents at https://groups.drupal.org/node/508323 We had originally announced that we will be publishing the content under GFDL but as per recommendations from Donna Benjamin and Dave Hall we are publishing this under CC-by-SA In the course of compiling and publishing the content we have realized that there is quite a lot that the trainers teach the developers from their experience and not necessarily directly from the training content. So there is still a lot of work to be done on the curriculum but we belie ve that the published curriculum is a good beginning. We believe learning Drupal is not a one time process and it requires continuous effort from the developer. The curriculum has been designed to help a PHP developer become a competent Drupal developer well versed in the different areas in Drupal and different aspects of Drupal development over a period of one year. There is a bit of effort required to build a comprehensive question bank to evaluate the progress of developers in this journey and we are hoping that we will be able to get some inputs from the community on this. We are now looking to publish and make available all of this content under a Moodle instance with public access so that developers or other Drupal companies can evaluate the content under a proper course perspective and contribute towards improving this. We would like to thank all those in the community who have contributed towards the effort so far and would like to invite more people to come join this initiative. Zyxware is honoured to have Donna Benjamin, the long time Board member of Drupal Association and Chair, Community Working group, as a distinguished guest in our office in Technopark. We were really excited to meet Donna, one of the key driving forces in the open source community at both the local and global level. Sharing her experiences during an interactive session with our people, Donna emphasized the need to create local and micro communities to organise meetups and knowledge sharing sessions and contribute in the best possible ways to the Drupal community. She stressed on consistently upholding the value of 'Seva' by sharing and extending knowledge and thus making the world a better place to live in . During the course of the interaction, she also appreciated our Drupal developers for their core contributions to the Drupal community. A passionate advocate of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) solutions and an Australian open source community contributor, Donna has donned vaious leadership roles in the Australian Open Source community including Directorship of Open Source Industry Australia, President of Linux Users of Victoria, Advisor to the Ada Initiative (Women in Open Technology) and, quite recently, as a Board member of the Global Drupal Association. Donna has been actively involved in organising different open source community events, including linux.conf.au in Melbourne, Open Source Developers Conference, Software Freedom Day, Drupal Downunder Melbourne, DrupalCon, Libre Graphics Day, OpenEdge, and the Australian Computers in Education Conference. In 2011, she organized 'Digitise The Dawn'; a crowdfunding campaign aimed at generating funds to digitise 'The Dawn', an early feminist magazine published in Australia between 1888 and 1905. In 2012 she received the 'Rusty Wrench Award' from Linux Australia in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Australian and New Zealand Free and Open Source Software community. She is the Executive Director of Creative Contingencies, a micro-business specialising in customised web services, project facilitation, research, and event management. We wholeheartedly believe that Donna's visit would help in fostering our long-term commitment with the Drupal community, enhancing our presence in community-related activities, and also inspire us to work and learn together in the days to come. Zyxware is happy to announce the release of new modules to the Drupal community. The modules were released in quick succession last month. slick menu : This module returns a theme that can be used for theming menus using the Slick JS Library. The themed menu will be displayed as a horizontal slider. Grid Height Normalizer: This module is suitable for e-commerce sites, where the details of products and services are showcased as tiles laid out on a grid. The different amount of data in each tile resulted in uneven size of the tiles, thus breaking the grid alignment. The Grid Height Normalizer retrieves the size of the biggest tile and applies it to all the other tiles, thus maintaining the grid layout. Image Showcase Block: Ideal for e-commerce sites, Image Showcase Block enables you to showcase the uploaded images in a block. The block for images is created using a slider. The module also offers options to zoom the selected image using the Elevate Zoom jQuery plugin. Multi Level Taxonomy Auto Complete: This module provides a flat taxonomy with hierarchy as auto-complete suggestion for a text field in custom form. The module uses the jQuery token input library for the autocomplete functionality. The appearance of the drop-down and chosen items can be changed by overriding the css. Ajax Pager API: If you are working with custom pages such as reports, or a content listing using custom queries, and want to replace the stock Drupal page with a pager that fetches the paged content using Ajax, this module is just right for you. In addition, this modules pager retains the history of the pages visited by the user from the paged element using Benjamin Lupton's History.js. This enables the users to navigate the previous pages using the browser back and forward buttons. Jquery Upload Fapi: This module helps to utilize the Jquery File Upload plugin in custom forms. The module defines a custom form field widget using the hook_element_info, which can be used in custom forms via code. Two more modules are expected to be released this week. We sincerely appreciate the combined efforts of the developers and the testing team who have made this possible.
