Celebrations galore: Zyxware welcomes Debian 8 “Jessie”

On Monday, Zyxware Technologies joined hands with millions of Debian fans around the world to celebrate the release of Debian 8 “Jessie”, the latest stable version of the popular Debian distro. Debian is one of the oldest and most popular GNU/Linux distributions in the world, used by millions of users on both servers and desktops. Debian 8.0 (Jessie) computer operating system, the biggest and most advanced release to date, was released globally on Saturday, April 25, 2015.

The Debian Jessie Release party, held on April 27th, provided an opportunity to promote free software, build awareness among our people regarding Debian philosophy, and to introduce the SDLC practices followed by the Debian Project to the various teams in the organization.The celebrations were held in Zyxware's offices in Sasthamangalam, Technopark, and Cochin.

The event kick-started with a welcome speech by Mr. Binny Thomas, Project Lead, followed by a presentation on Debian, its history, and GNU/Linux distributions by Mr. Anoop John, Founder and C.T.O, Zyxware Technologies. Later, several programs were held including poster exhibition, a quiz competition on Debian, distribution of prizes to the winners, and a cake-cutting ceremony.

The event also saw the formal launch of the "Employee of the year 2015" award by the Quality Evangelist team. The award seeks to recognize the unique and valuable contributions of our people and to reward those who have stayed true to our core values. The award is a humble recognition of the vision, ability, perseverance, and commitment of those who have enriched the organization with their exceptional contributions.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Binny Thomas and Mr. Anoop John, Founder and C.T.O, Zyxware Technologies.
