Zyxware technologies is honoured to be a part of the prestigious annual event organized by the Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce on 'Outsourcing and Off-shoring – Opportunities in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region' held on June 5, 2015 at Hotel Residency Towers, Chennai. Mr. Thomas P. Thomas, CEO, Zyxware technologies, represented the company at the event. The event was inaugurated by Mr. T.K. Ramachandran, I.A.S., Principal Secretary, Information Technology Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. Mr. P. Gopalakrishna, Secretary, Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce, proposed the vote of thanks. An overview of the event The event was well-attended, with a wide range of information-packed presentations and success stories from renowned speakers in the Indo-Australian space. The participants included a broad spectrum of businesses such as Software Development Companies, Immigration Consultants and Embedded Systems Companies and Financial and Accounting Services companies. The presentations were made by the representatives of various companies including Ramco Systems, ANZ Bank, Raheja QBE (Insurance), STPI, Carisma (Financial and Accounting Services), eNoah ERP Systems, Fragomen (Immigration Consultancy), Epson (marketing of printers, sponsor for the event), and Cognizant. The presentations mainly focused on the following areas: the Future of Digital Industry, Immigration, and Experiences of outsourcing from Australia. With regard to the future of Digital industry, the key point that was stressed was the need to combine services and move higher in the value chain, the need for disruptive innovations and an internal culture that supports such behaviour. To cope with the sustained pricing pressure, fierce competition and decreasing revenues that the Indian IT industry is facing, it is essential for an IT firm to move up the value chain and offer higher value-added services such as consulting, product development, R&D, and end-to-end turnkey solutions. Higher value-added segment is essentially characterized by higher risk and greater returns, higher brand equity, interface skills between IT and management, and domain knowledge. Hence, ascending the value chain basically mandates the following: acquiring domain knowledge, building capabilities, creating talent pools, and facilitating innovation in IT to provide greater social value. On immigration, the emphasis was on the current scenario in Australia, where the compliance audit has become a lot more stricter. Hence, it is essential to keep in mind the complex conditions and obligations that each type of visa entails. With respect to outsourcing from Australia, the major point that was emphasised was the need to establish credibility to gain an entry into the closed system that the Australian industry is. The event opens up a lot of opportunities for Zyxware by enabling us to explore channel partnerships with some of the key companies in Australia and also the possibility of registering ourselves with the Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce. In addition, it also offers us the platform for potential partnerships with non-competing organisations including those that provide financial support services. The background & objective: India is fast emerging as an important destination for Australian companies, especially in outsourcing operations. To solve the issue of mounting costs and shortage of skills, Australian companies are constantly looking to other countries for various outsourcing operations including software development, accounting practices and other financial services, IT enabled engineering services, Documentation management, Human resource outsourcing, e-learning, Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) and Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO). In this scenario, Australia’s 1.3 million strong SME (Small and Medium-sized enterprises) sector holds a lot of promises. A good proportion of these firms are seeking collaboration with Indian companies to take advantage of the abundant skills and cost reduction that the country offers. This is a wonderful news for people who want to work in Australia or for those applying for Australian work visa as the Government plans to attract more skilled overseas workers by facilitating changes to the 457 visa system. The primary objective of the annual workshop on 'Outsourcing and Off-shoring – Opportunities in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region' is to take a closer look at the growing opportunities for Indian companies in the region. The high profile workshop features several case studies, practical guidance and high-end contacts in Australia for participants that would help them to successfully establish their outsourcing business in Australia. About Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce The Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce has over 500 members and represents the entire range of Indo-Australian business community, including some of the renowned Australian and Indian companies engaged in a wide range of business activities - automobiles, building and construction, food processing, agri-business, mining and energy, textiles, banking and financial services, healthcare, software and business process outsourcing, logistics, migration, tourism and entertainment - between the two countries. In the past 22 years, the Chamber has led 10 business missions to Australia and has provided assistance to over 180 Indian companies, primarily SMEs, to establish long-term business partnerships with Australian companies. These missions also help in gaining a throrough knowledge of Australian markets. The chamber also provides opportunities for its members to interact with Australian business delegations visiting Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi. In addition, there are several smaller business teams and businessmen who frequently visit India to explore opportunities in trade, technology transfer, collaborations, market research and trade fairs and even to establish their own offices in India.
