Lenovo has announced the prices of their Thinkpad series of laptops for the month of December, 2007. Here we have all the prices. Except for the entry level models which come with Intel Celeron processors all other models come with Dual Core or Core 2 Duo chipsets. WiFi and minimum 80GB hard disk are standard on all models. All the high end models come with DVDWriters, and either Windows XP or Vista.

HP-Compaq announced the prices for its Compaq Presario range of laptops for the month of December. The prices have been brought down, rather value for price has been increased in these models. The entry level laptops are equipped with Dual Layer DVD Burner. They are giving more value for what you pay. Here are the list of various models and its prices.
HP-Compaq have a Presario model of laptop - Presario V6604AU. It is an AMD based machine with Athlon X2 Processor TK-55 (1.8 GHz), 512 MB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB SATA Hard Disk, 8X SuperMulti Double Layer DVD Writer, 15.4" wide screen, NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7150M GS graphics and also has got Wi-Fi, Integrated Bluetooth. It comes pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.

HP-Compaq has another model of laptop - Presario V6425TU, that comes equipped with Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2080 (1.73 GHz), 512 MB DDR2, 120GB SATA HDD, DVDRW, 15.4" Widescreen and more.. HCL B 2302 is one of the very few sub 37500 rupees Core 2 Duo laptops available in India. It is a bargain for the price you are paying for it. This model replaces the HCL Z 2201 laptop and the only difference(in the major components - Processor, RAM, Harddisk, Screen) being the 15" screen for the B 2302 model. Ubuntu installations on most laptops are a breeze and would be ready to use without any major custom configurations. However this laptop required some specific tweaks to make the system ready to use.
