HCL B 2302 is one of the very few sub 37500 rupees Core 2 Duo laptops available in India. It is a bargain for the price you are paying for it. Recently we came across a virus in one of our customers computers. The system was brought in with the complaint that it was running very slow and internet access was too slow to be of any use. We scanned the system with AVG and as was expected found a slew of viruses which AVG removed successfully after a complete scan. All but one - a file named startdrv.exe located at C:\Windows\Temp\startdrv.exe. AVG could not delete the file, neither could we delete it manually from Windows.

The Indian Linux User Group Trivandrum chapter(ilug-tvm) had been lying dormant for quite some time. However there has been a burst of activity within the group during the last two months. The release of the health monitoring system was well received by the media. It was covered in almost all the regional newspapers including Malayala Manorama, Mathrubhoomi, Deshabhimani, and some of the regional television channels like DD1 Malayalam, JaiHind, Kairali People, Manorama TV, Amruta TV. It was also taken well by the online media including Hindu, PTI etc. Although we didn't get hold of all the copies of the press releases published in the media we have collected some of the published content and are sharing it here.

We are happy to announce that our open source application, The Health Monitoring System was dedicated to the nation by Hon'ble Health Minister of Kerala, Smt.
