A slew of features focusing on the usability of the system has been incorporated into Fedora 8.

Some of the new features in Fedora include Pulse Audio, Codec Buddy, Online-Desktop, Compiz and Gnome 2.20. The KDE version was slated to have KDE 4 integrated and would have made Fedora 8 one of the first mainline distributions to go live with the much awaited KDE 4. Since KDE 4 was still not ready for public use they cut back on this option and went with KDE 3.58. Major changes has also been brought about with Yum in terms of dependency resolution and speed. The desktop look and feel has been made much more professional than the previous releases and the desktop is also noticeably more responsive.
