We have ported and released another Drupal 7 theme from another popular wordpress theme - Hatch. The Hatch Drupal theme - is now available on Drupal.org. CSI Trivandrum Chapter and Zyxware is jointly conducting a One Day workshop on Javascript and jQuery on the 15th of September 2012. The workshop will be held at Hotel Keys, Trivandrum from 9AM to 5PM. Entry is limited to 30 participants only. You can - register online and reserve a seat for yourself for the workshop.

Zyxware had been working with Computer Society of India(CSI) Trivandrum Chapter to organise workshops and training programs on various technologies. To take this relationship forward, Zyxware Technologies and CSI, Trivandrum Chapter have entered into an MoU. Through this MoU Zyxware and CSI Trivandrum will be partnering with each other to offer training programmes in Information Technology.

Zyxware was invited to participate in the recently conducted ICFOSS Interaction with Small and Medium Enterprises on SME IT Requirements and FOSS. The meeting was organized at Kochi for SMEs in Central Kerala. At the interaction we presented our ideas about how a Small business can take the first steps towards enabling their businesses with IT. When you want to move a Drupal site from one hosting server to another you have to ensure that the site works the same way on the new server as it used to work on the old server. There is no real fool proof way of doing this other than to meticulously document all the custom aspects associated with setting up the site and verifying it on the new server. We had recently received the opportunity to provide video conferencing and live streaming services for the recently concluded fourth International FOSS Conference conducted by ICFOSS which was conducted from till 27-12-11 and concluded on 29-12-11. The technical support we offered was designed to be simple and can be replicated with minimum of effort to cover any other Free Software event. We have created an article on the technical aspects of setting up video streaming in Ubuntu and posted it on Ubuntu Manual. Zyxware was invited to participate in the recently conducted ICFOSS Consultation of “Future Directions of Free Software in Kerala” held at Tejaswini, Tehcnopark on 9th August 2011. Anoop John, CTO, presented Zyxware’s perspective on how to create a viable commercial Free Software ecosystem in Kerala. The state has grown in leaps and bounds in terms of end users for Free Software but not much has happened on the commercial front. You can see our presentation at  

One of the more cried about limitations of Drupal has been the seeming lack of quality themes. Wordpress, another popular CMS framework, has a vibrant design community and therefor has some breathtaking themes. Additionally all themes published on Wordpress.org are GPLed. We have taken one of the recently created wordpress themes - icandy - and have ported this to Drupal and have contributed it to the community. You can see the Drupal icandy theme here

Adding to the growing list of community contributions we have taken up the support for yet another Drupal Module - MailQ. Zyxware Drupal Profile now boasts commit rights for 6 different modules. A few more modules are in the queue and should be out there soon.

Continuing the good work we have been doing in the area of Free Software we had recently volunteered our team and resources for the Free Software Free Society International Conference on Freedom in Computing, Development and Culture. The conference was a resounding success in terms of the exposure that it gave to Free Software to the public in Kerala (primarily over internet and media) and more importantly the exposure it gave to the Free Software community in Kerala to the International Free Software Community.

IT Mission, Government of Kerala in association with SPACE-Kerala is organizing a 3 day International conference titled - Free Software Free Society - during the month of December. As part of the conference, help was sought from the community to set up a conference management system and the conference website. We, being the local Drupal experts, had volunteered to develop the website for the conference. We are happy to announce the launch of the website fsfs.in.

Zyxware Technologies joins hands with GNU/Linux Users Group Trivandrum (ilug-tvm), SPACE-Kerala and FSF India to bring to the public the second GNU/Linux Install fest in Trivandrum in the last 3 months. This time the event is arranged to coincide with the Worldwide Mandriva Linux Install Fest so as to pledge our cooperation with the Mandriva Community. The event is arranged for the 14th of June 2008 at Cotton Hill Lower Primary School, Vazhuthacaud.

With a view to promote the status of Kerala as an IT Hub, Kerala State IT mission organized yet another IT Show. The theme of Kerala IT.Com 2008 was ‘Kerala – The IT Destination Hub – Cutting edge and Viable solutions through use of IT’. This time the show was hosted at Technopark. One major change in this years show was a stall offerred by the IT Mission for the promotion of free software community in the state and for the promotion of free software in Industry.
