The process of converting information into a digital format is known as Digitization. Here the information is organized into units called bits which can be individually addressed. This binary data is processed by computers and other devices having the capacity to compute. Digitizing information makes it easier to save, access and share across various platforms to any place in the world. Digitization in the Media and Entertainment space Every industry has been impacted in a positive manner by the use of digitization and the entertainment and media industry has been no exception to this. In the previous year, the M&E industry was taken by storm by the digital revolution and from the results we saw, 2016 is not going to be different. As predicted by experts, it is this digitization that will help in breaking new barriers and creating bigger grounds to play. This impact has been further fuelled by the rise of the mobile technology along with the coming-of-age of internet too. This is akin to a revolution that this industry has never seen before has given this generation a great spectacle to witness. In earlier times, it was newspaper that bought in news the next day morning from around the world. Today, the job of reporting and analysing is being done by social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Since the advent of mobile technology, television, radio and newspaper have taken a backseat just like the internet has transformed the M&E industry. The “second screen” phenomenon has made sweeping changes to the way users watch television. The second screen is the laptop, mobile or tablet that is used in between programs or commercials by television viewers. The presence on this second screen is extremely critical and every industry is vying for space here. Content that is available at the click of a button, yet is available from anywhere and can be shared is the need of the hour. Digitization will make sweeping changes in the way content, be it newspaper or television, is looked at and consumed. Large Media houses dealing with news on print have started looking at various avenues of reaching the audience and digitization is help them to do so. What are the key growth drivers in the Media and Entertainment sector in India? The Media and Entertainment sector in India is growing at a blazing speed. As per a FICCI-KPMG report, the Indian media segment is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.9 percent by 2019, and one major reason for this growth spiral is the young audience, which is consuming media at their own pace and convenience, sharing content across platforms and putting their views across on social media. This is the power of digitization and this will fuel further growth in this sector. The scorching pace that it has set in 2015 will be further accelerated because it is more user-driven and will provide content that is available on demand. Zyxware has always been at the forefront of such revolutions that rock the media and entertainment industry. Marketing directors have been keen on designing their strategies for 2016 while keeping in mind the social media marketing trends that are going to have the biggest impact on their efforts. If you are in the middle of developing your social media marketing strategy for 2016, then you should definitely take some time to review the social media marketing trends for the year as predicted by experts. However, before doing it, it is important to understand what exactly social media marketing means. Well, Social Media Marketing is nothing but the ability to utilize communication through various social media sites to build a brand or gain attention. Now, let's take a look at some of the major social media marketing trends of 2016. Mobile to be the first priority: With the ever increasing number of mobile users and the dramatic increase in the number of mobile visitors to websites, companies will have to make the shift towards making mobile a priority. Marketing strategists can no way avoid focusing on mobile phones, especially smart phones. Development in Emoji Analytics: Emoji have become an important communication tool as it is easy to use, compact and enables an easier and quicker way of expressing one’s emotions without having to use longer-form content. With the increasing usage of Emoji's in future, marketers will definitely have to look forward to implementing more emoji on texts in various social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp. The questions that would get greater focus would be how do we use this rising trend to get a better understanding of our audience? Can we consider emoji habits and behaviors as a strong indicator of engagement and interest? Getting the particulars on how and why emoji are used, and in the context in which they are used will become pertinent in 2016. Extension of Customer Service: Since more and more people are using social media sites, they will look forward to customer service platforms to resolve their issues. Hence, marketing strategists will focus on developing more tools in networking sites to better serve their customers. Live-streaming Video to become popular: Live video is a method of connecting face-to-face, without having to meet personally. Live video offers a better scope of connecting you to your audience in a more personal way than blogs. Moreover, it does not require further editing or improving the content. So it can be presumed that 2016 will see a mix of new trends along with the old ones in social media marketing. If you are the Social Media Manager for a B2B company, you are probably in search of a strategy that will engage your users and turn them into loyal followers and give your organization long-term success. Using Social Media Marketing has long been the domain of B2C companies while B2B companies have been sceptical about its effectiveness as a potent weapon, especially in the longer run. In order to build an effective and workable B2B Social Media Strategy, you can consider focusing on the following points: Have defined objectives: As a Social media manager, it is vital that your focus on the main objectives that need to be achieved is unwavering. If you have limited time at your disposal, ensure that you do not digress because of continuous influx of info and data. Make it a habit to bookmark information you have found useful and ensure you browse through it later during the day. This is the only way you can contribute to the social media community and reap rich rewards in the long run. Communicate regularly and sensibly: Your tweets and posts are bound to generate responses and it is absolutely essential that you respond to them by sending a one line acknowledgement. Remember, your responses will be read by other readers and followers too, and this could generate a lot of traffic if you take care while replying. Be sensitive to gender, religion etc. and ensure you do not ruffle any feathers, thus upsetting your focus. Be different:You would surely respond to this one with “easier said than done” but if you need to stand out amongst the humungous number of Social media Marketers, you shall need to generate an active network, use good quality content and of course, participate on a consistent basis. Stay committed:There would be times when your strategy may not produce the desired results, leading to dimmed focus and wavering confidence about the path. Make sure you stay committed to your strategy in difficult times and the rewards are bound to show up.The web is populated with many success stories and case studies and you can surely use them as a guide to steer you through troubled waters whenever you encounter them. Use the social media as an engagement channel since your B2B social media strategy will generate lots of leads and promote dialogue with decision makers and door-keepers of your target organizations. Sales may not be a direct outcome of your strategy as you shall need to understand that B2B sales involves multi-layered approvals, cost scrutiny etc. Thus the decision making process may be delayed. If you incorporate the above points in your B2B social media strategy, you are bound to generate highly effective and positive results. You can blow the myth of B2B companies not being effective social media marketers by tweaking your plan to create a great list of followers and ensuring their participation too, thus creating a popular and respected brand. Reach out to us at Zyxware and partner with us to create a highly successful, customized and easy-to-implement social media marketing strategy for your organization. Social media has emerged as a powerful marketing tool for businesses, as it offers a world of opportunities for companies to implement their marketing strategies and build brand awareness. However, social media platforms do carry certain risks. Some of the major disadvantages of social networking as a marketing tool are: Time-consuming: Social media is an interactive platform and two-way exchanges require a lot of time and commitment. In social media marketing, the emphasis is on creating long-term relationships that can convert to sales. Companies should have someone who is wholly responsible for monitoring each network, respond to the comments, reply to the questions from customers, and post and update product information. Very often, businesses which do not have such services find it rather difficult to compete with their counterparts in the industry. Intrusive to privacy: A good majority of users are of the opinion that social media marketing is extremely intrusive to their privacy. They feel quite uncomfortable about exchanging personal information and consider social networks as low in security. Lack of feedback control: One of the aspects of social networking is the negative post responses to marketing campaigns. Very often, unhappy or worried customers or competitors in the industry post offensive pictures, posts or videos. Social networks must be managed effectively to promptly respond to such situations and neutralize disparaging posts. Local businesses and distant fans: Most of the social media sites are free to join and operate, but if paid advertising is not used, it would be unable to identify and target the customer base. If you are planning to market your products through social networking sites, it is advisable to collect information from prospective customers regarding their interests. Your social marketing strategy can be a failure, if customers and clients do not provide precise data using the service. Mainly attracts current brand users: Another flipside to social network marketing is that although it retains the existing customers, significant effort is required to attract new customers. Existing brand users could support peer-to-peer marketing through the social networking platforms and even influence consumers to try out the latest services and products. This would help to avoid pure advertising and establish strong relationship with the existing and new customers. Social Networking Social Media Leave a reply Your email address will not be published. A landing page refers to an online marketing tactic that is aimed at getting people to “land” on a particular Web page to engage in a specific action. An effective landing page could contribute to the success of your marketing strategy. A landing page is designed to gain more social media followers, sign up a service, purchase a product, generate traffic, convert leads to customers and thus increase sales. Landing pages are generally used for a particular affiliate or a paid search engine campaign. Here are a few requisite components of a good direct response landing page: A persuasive page headline: If your landing page does not attract the attention of the visitor or arouse their curiosity instantly, it will surely fail. Hence, the headline should be powerful, attractive, and capable of retaining the interest of the audience. The headline should typically relate to solving a common requirement, or it should be in a question format. You could also increase the font size of the headline and choice of colour if required. Present all the key information above the page fold so that the user does not have to scroll vertically. Long scrolling pages work well specifically for expensive products and services where comprehensive details are needed. Remove unnecessary text and images: Always keep your landing page free of clutter. Keep the content short and simple so that the user can easily understand the benefits of the product you are attempting to sell. Avoid large blocks of text. Instead, use short bullet points to streamline text. Outline the key benefits: Outline the major benefits of the product just below the main headline. You can keep the content to one line per bullet point (five points or less), as it enhances the readability of the text. Place 'Learn More' or 'See Details' links to provide more information about the product to the visitor. The information could be displayed in lightbox popovers without distracting the visitor's attention from the page. Include a supporting trust area: The key benefits and a compelling call to action should be placed in the main body of the direct response page. However, it's important to provide a smaller information block also, where users can search for extra information to help them in the decision-making process. This could include testimonials as well as client logos, which helps to establish trust and credibility about the product or service on your direct response page. An effective landing page is the best way to increase traffic and conversion rates. And Zyxware provides you just that. We design high-quality custom landing pages that are absolutely compatible with your marketing campaigns and branding objectives. Our services are economical, reliable and ensures greater returns on investment. So, if you want to create or optimize landing pages at extremely competitive prices, please get in touch with us. Social media is a really good tool for any organization as it provides enhanced visibility and generates plenty of traffic to your website. Although social media certainly provides more flexibility in content compared to traditional marketing platforms, you have to be extremely cautious when publishing a new post. Please do not share Facebook status updates or Tweets that are controversial or might not be useful to your company as it could hurt the brand reputation. So, in order to avoid a social media blunder, here are certain important things that your business should never share on social media: Do not talk negatively about your competitor: Social media gives your brand or business a distinctive voice on the Internet. However, do not use social media as a medium to take vengeance on your competitors as it will do greater harm to your reputation than help it. Never share information that is too personal: Although social media acts as a means for your brand to strengthen the relationship with your audience, never use it as a medium to discuss sensitive topics such as religion and politics. Refrain from aggressive sales pitches: Social media marketing could be used as a sales tool, but you should share content that the audience finds informative, engaging, and valuable. Do not argue with a customer who posts negative remarks on your social media page: Sometimes, a customer who is dissatisfied or unhappy with your product/service might post derogatory remarks on your social media page. In such a situation, how you react to the customer can either help to build a strong reputation and respect for your brand or land you in troubled waters. Hence, hurling abuses at the customer on social media for talking disparagingly about your brand is not a clever decision. Do not share information that is vague or misleading: If you feel that certain information is inaccurate, unconvincing or completely misleading, please do not share it on social media. If you share false information with your customers, you will instantly lose the trust and credibility which you had earned from your audience. Always remember that even one bad post can cause serious implications for your organization, particularly if you have a large customer base. A small lapse in judgement is likely to ruin your powerful social media strategy. So, take wise decisions and consider every post with a relevant degree of scrutiny before posting it in Facebook, Twitter, or other social media platforms. There is a common misconception that a social media page and a website are interchangeable. Infact, what a business needs is powerful web presence. In this article, we will discuss the pros and cons of websites as well as social media pages, and find out which is more effective. Advantages of Websites A website gives you full control to alter or modify or adjust even the minutest details in your website, everything ranging from the look and feel to its features. You can pull this through with a free website as well as fancy and costly ones. Your unique website is available round-the-clock for those who wish to find it. As consumers look for information about your business from online sources, having a website builds better credibility for your business. Your website serves as an online brochure and provides them all the information they seek. When it comes to marketing, a website not only gives more leeway to market your business but also includes an array of marketing features such as videos, customer reviews, blogs, and special promotional offers. Disadvantages of Websites Website maintenance is very important. When the size of the site increases, it becomes more difficult and time consuming to keep the website updated. As the website becomes more complex, it becomes even tougher to design and maintain. Moreover, website maintenance also becomes a costly affair. A marketing strategy is required to promote traffic to your website and this could mean a lot of work. Advantages of Social Media Pages Building relationships through social media is as easy as setting up a social media page. You can even discard your social media page in case you do not find it worthwhile. The casual and humanizing forms of interaction with consumers are effective as well as easy to attain. Free and quick to set up, social media pages can come handy for your branding needs. Through your activities, updates and responses on the page, consumers get to know more about the company’s values, mission and vision. This in turn help in achieving loyalty and enhances your brand. Disadvantages of Social Media Pages With social media pages, you lack ownership. You have to oblige to the rules of the social media platform in every step you take. You are constrained by design limitations and limited features. As it is an open forum, consumers can post whatever they feel like on your page and some messages can harm your business. This needs to be monitored. As we can see, both websites and social media pages have their advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantages of one can be overcome by the other. It is not whether a social media page or website is effective, but the fact that your business needs both a website and a social media page to create an effective web presence. Those of you who have been regularly visiting this site would have started seeing small changes in the site related to how it integrates with social media sites. I have been experimenting on how to increase the interactions between us and the visitors on the site as well as between visitors on the site. This is still a work in progress but I wanted to share with you some of the things I have changed on the site a) Added Share / Like buttons for the four social media sites LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. We did not have LinkedIn in the past but because I have been very active on LinkedIn of late and because we have identified as a good source for new business it made a lot of sense to set up the LinkedIn share button on all articles. b) Added Facebook commenting on all articles - We get a lot of comments posted on our articles but all of these comments have been via the comment form under the articles. These comments were not generating any interaction between people who commented. By adding facebook comments I am hoping that people would be able to interact between themselves using facebook comments. In the long run I would want to use facebook API and have these comments pulled into our own system and archive these under the articles themselves instead of leaving them in facebook. c) Added automatic repositioning of the social media like / share buttons on scrolling of the page. Earlier the buttons were statically placed on top of the page and people would stop seeing the buttons once you started scrolling. I did a little javascript tweaking to have the social media buttons reposition themselves to the side of the articles once you start scrolling. Scroll this page up and down and see the behaviour of the social media buttons. d) I have added proper Open Graph html meta tags inside articles to help the social media site pull up the right title, teaser and image when others share / like articles from the site. e) I have started integrating pinterest on pages with relevant images. For example in the recent article about us getting listed as a featured drupal service provider I have added pinterest integration and you can see the pin it icon when you hover over the image in the article. TODO - Social media audience loves images. Currently we do have the ability to upload images to each article. I will have to put some time into setting up default images for articles based on the category under which the article was posted so that articles come up with meaningful thumbnail images when shared on social media. I don't think I will be able to come up with unique images every time I post articles. These are only small changes but the key point is that I have started paying attention to the small aspects on our website that would help make an impact on our ability to interact better with the audience on our site. Thankfully the content on our site is bringing in regular audience. If you have any other suggestions on how to make the site more social media friendly do let me know using the comment form below and I could try out suggestions.
