ASUSTek Computer Inc. launched much awaited models in the ultra-portable laptop catagory - ASUS Eee PC 900 series and 1000 series. These come with 80 GB of storage space, which will enable everyone to have lots and lots of storage area instead of 4GB and 8GB in the other Eee PC models. The 1000 series comes with a 10.2" widescreen display and the 900 series is fitted with a 8.9" Widescreen display when compared to the earlier models of Eee PC. We run apt-cacher to save bandwidth in our intranet. All Ubuntu systems in our office uses the apt-cacher server to update and upgrade. If you do a google search on this topic you will come across different posts that says how windows does not allow booting of a logical partition and why windows should be installed on a primary partition. The fact of the matter is that windows allows itself to be installed on logical partitions but it will want a primary windows partition to boot up. The full set of Ubuntu Repository DVDs (set of 5 DVDs) is now available and you can order it through our RequestCD Program. If you get the complete Ubuntu Repository on DVDs you do not have to have an internet connection to install any package that is normally available through Synaptic Package Manager.

We install Ubuntu on almost all systems built at Zyxware. One common request we have heard from our customers was for a simple printed user manual that they can use to learn and start using Ubuntu. We have been guiding people to the web to learn the ins and outs of using the operating systems but this does not always work very well. As a permanent solution to this problem we are embarking on an ambitious project to create a print ready Ubuntu Manual.
