We are offering internships for MBA students this summer (2011) at Zyxware. Internships are available specifically in the areas of Market Research, Operations Management and Human Resources Management. Interested applicants please submit a brief profile about yourself, your formal resume and a covering letter to mba-internships-2011 at zyxware dot com. The last date to receive applications for this summer internship program is March 31, 2011.

Project Title: Customer experience of Zyxware’s hardware products business

No of internships: 2

Eligibility of candidates: 2nd year students of management programmes with competence in consumer behavior and market research methods, should be competent in English and Malayalam.

Project Description: Zyxware Technologies has been in the business of IT hardware products for over 4 years. Its customer base has been largely middle income households and individuals. As the business has stabilized over the past 4 years, we are looking to assess our performance from the point of view of our clientèle. We hope to understand the following aspects:

1. Awareness of Zyxware’s products and services
2. IT requirements of the customers
3. Assessment of Zyxware’s products and services against their requirements
4. Other feedback

We hope to use this study to enable us to consolidate and fine tune our business model for this segment.

We expect the interns to conduct detailed surveys with a significantly large sample size and present their findings in the form of a report. The report must not be more than 30 pages.

Project Title: Study of IT hardware market characteristics in the segment of mid-sized organizations like schools and colleges, cooperative banks, small retail outlets etc.

Eligibility of candidates: 2nd year students of management programmes with competence in market research methods, should be competent in English and Malayalam

Project Description: Zyxware Technologies has been in the business of IT hardware products for over 4 years. Its customer base has so far been largely middle income households and individuals. We are looking to expand our business into mid-sized organizations where we feel that we can provide IT hardware products at competitive prices. The study should focus on the IT hardware requirements of mid-sized organizations like schools and colleges, cooperative banks, small retail outlets, etc, estimates of IT hardware expenditure, purchase/procurement policies, maintenance and service requirements etc.

Project Title: Process documentation and analysis of software development at Zyxware

No of internships: 1

Eligibility of candidates: 2nd year management students with interest in operations management, people with a degree in IT or IT related disciplines will be given preference.

Project Description: Zyxware Technologies has been in the business of developing web based applications for mid-sized organizations in the last four years. We have grown to a team of 30 people now. We are looking forward to streamline the development process to improve on internal efficiencies and better delivery of value to our clientèle. A process analysis of our software development operation will provide us with a baseline and insights for this streamlining process. The person will be expected to work closely with the project manager and the software engineers.

Project Title: Developing an HR Manual for Zyxware Technologies

No of internships: 2

Eligibility of candidates: 2nd year students of management programmes, interest in the area of human resources management, good communications skills are critical

Project Description: Zyxware Technologies, after four years of existence, is at an important juncture in its development. Zyxware Technologies would like to develop itself as an organization which develops IT based products and services that are not only profitable but also addresses critical gaps in society, has a team of competent people who collaborate to create value and adheres strictly to an ethical framework. In line with these objectives, we are looking to develop an HR manual through a process involving the employees of Zyxware Technologies.

There is a whole bunch of them here and they call themselves as Indie Developers. Nice name eh? And there has been some successful players in the market as well. Nick Bradbudy is one of them. He is maintaining a blog at nick.typepad.com where he recently blogged some generous tips for wannabe indie developers. I think, his blog is an inspirational tool, which probably you might want to add it to your initial list in this blog. Yet another one is Jan Goyvaerts the creator of EditPad Pro. He maintains a blog at http://www.shareware-beach.com/. I myself is a loyal customer of both Nick’s and Jan’s products and I can attest myself that they do what they preach. An offer letter is the first document using which a company contacts the employee who is selected for appointment. It contains the designation offered, general terms, salary figures, payment details, working hours etc. The employee can either accept or reject the offer. TRAINING PROGRAM

Purpose: At PF Infotech we believe that the Internship process is one of the many stepping stones towards Building a Career with the Organization. Duration: The Summer Interns Internship for duration of 12 weeks (3 months)
Timelines: The pre-placement Talks/Presentations are held. Senior Business and HR Managers Visit the Campuses and help Students understand the Opportunities that PF Infotech offers
Selection Process: After the pre-placement Talk, the Interested Students are asked to apply by submitting their cvs. Based on the overall personality of the students, a shortlist is announced.

The Selection Process Consists of a Group Discussion (Optional) and Two to Three Rounds Of Personal Interviews.

SALIENT ASPECTS OF INTERNSHIP AT PF INFOTECH PVT. LTD.:
Structured Process
Two day Business Induction at HO (inclusive of market visit).

One week to understand the project deliverables and work out the timelines.

Mid project evaluations with respective Tutors, Guides and Mentors.

Final Evaluations with Management Team at Head Office.

Management Interactions/ Support Mechanism:

Each Intern is provided with a Tutor, Guide, Mentor and Buddy for the duration of his Internship.
Tutor – He/she is the person the Intern could approach for day to day Guidance required for the project.

Guide – He/she sets the overall direction to the project and takes complete ownership of the project.

Mentor – who would be the head of the function in which the Intern is working? His role is to be receptive and approachable for the Intern and also would help the Intern understand the career graph he/she would like to take.

Buddy – He/she would be from the previous batch of Management Trainees and would help the Intern understand the Informal do's and don’ts within the Organization.

I am keen to join from mid of June to mid of August that is , for two months or three months for my summer internship & wanted to do in HR or in finance field.
