Lenovo A800

The thing everyone will love most about the A800 will be the design of the phone. It measures at just 5.26 x 2.71 x 0.45 inches and weighs in at 155 grams making it a lightweight and slim phone even if it has a generous 4.5-inch screen. The most striking feature though is the back plate. Instead of the usual shiny, glossy, and smudge magnet plates, the A800 sports a classy (but a litte rugged) plate with some sort of ridged pattern. This not only makes it eye-catching, but it also helps with the grip.

SOFTWARE

Running under the A800′s hood is Lenovo’s version of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.Lenovo took the liberty of having some apps pre-installed like the AVG antivirus, Kingsoft Office, AccuWeather, doubleTwist, SugarSync, UC Browser and a couple of games. The rest of the apps are the basic Google goodies and some of Lenovo’s own useful apps like the Lenovo Note, Lenovo Power Manager and LeCalendar.

MEDIA

Lenovo skimped a bit on camera technology on the A800 and equipped it with a 5 megapixel shooter with no LED flash. There’s no front-facing camera here so video chats can be an issue. As for video recording, you can shoot videos up to 720p. The A800 uses 2000mAh Lithium ion battery with a life of 2 days with constatnt Wifi use,SNS browsing and sending SMS.
With dual-SIM standby, WiFi, gaming and music playback using the speakers, the battery lasted for almost a day. Overall, battery life is good on the A800.

PERFORMANCE

For a dual-core Android smartphone with half a gig of RAM, we’re pretty much impressed with the A800′s performance. There are slight lags especially when launching an app for the first time. One distinctive feature of the user interface of this phone is the ability to do a lot of personalization as you use the application launcher. Android still Lockscreen ICS-style with a circle which point the slider to the right to unlock the screen, while to the left to go directly into the camera menu. There is a maximum of 9 units homescreen pages that can be personalized free will.
The major performance related problem will be the 512 MB RAM which will not be big enough for several applications.

OUR REVIEW

Lenovo A800 offers many features like attractive design, good display, solid battery life, very loud speakers and all at a very affordable price. But users may find rather rudimentary errors like no front camera and flash for the camera. Also the android ICS is just out of the box without any add ons which is rather disappointing.
