Chakra GNU/Linux 2012.05 is an updated release of the project's rolling-release "Archimedes" series featuring KDE 4.8.3. The Chakra project is proud to announce the third 'Archimedes' release. As with the previous release, Chakra is no longer shipping a GUI for package management. Appset-qt was the GUI for Pacman, but was not handling complex updates as should, so it is dropped from this ISO. With this release KDE is updated to 4.8.3, a new toolchain including GCC 4.7 and glibc 2.15, updated glib2 stack, latest NVIDIA and Catalyst, updated SQLite, unixODBC and Python groups, to name a few of the newer base packages included. These base updates made it so that the second Archimedes release is no longer usable for bundles, thus a new ISO needed. About Chakra Chakra GNU/Linux is a user-friendly and powerful distribution and live CD originally forked from Arch Linux. It features a graphical installer, automatic hardware detection and configuration, the latest KDE desktop, and a variety of tools and extras.     Code Name Archimedes Distribution Name Chakra Version 2012.05 Architecture i686 Number of Media 1 Size 1.4 GB Media Type DVD Software Type Linux http://chakraos.org/

Now Debian 6.0.5 KDE desktop CD is also available now. The Debian project is pleased to announce the fifth update of its stable distribution Debian 6.0 (codename squeeze). This update mainly adds corrections for security problems to the stable release, along with a few adjustments for serious problems. Security advisories were already published separately and are referenced where available. Please note that this update does not constitute a new version of Debian 6.0 but only updates some of the packages included. There is no need to throw away 6.0 CDs or DVDs but only to update via an up-to-date Debian mirror after an installation, to cause any out of date packages to be updated.   About Debian The Debian Project is an association of individuals who have made common cause to create a free operating system. This operating system is called Debian GNU/Linux, or simply Debian for short. Debian systems currently use the Linux kernel. Linux is a completely free piece of software started by Linus Torvalds and supported by thousands of programmers worldwide. Of course, the thing that people want is application software: programs to help them get what they want to do done, from editing documents to running a business to playing games to writing more software. Debian comes with over 20,000 packages (precompiled software that is bundled up in a nice format for easy installation on your machine) - all of it free. It's a bit like a tower. At the base is the kernel. On top of that are all the basic tools. Next is all the software that you run on the computer. At the top of the tower is Debian -- carefully organizing and fitting everything so it all works together.   Code Name Squeese Distribution Name Debian Version 6.0.5 Architecture i386 Number of Media 1 Size 647 MB Media Type CD Software Type Linux https://www.debian.org

Salix OS 13.37 cd is available with 64bit architecture also. Salix OS 13.37 "MATE" edition is a Slackware-based distribution featuring the increasingly popular fork of the GNOME 2 desktop. Salix MATE 13.37 is now officially released. Available for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures, this release introduces the MATE desktop environment. For anyone not familiar with MATE, it's a GNOME 2 fork, that continues development of the GNOME 2.x branch. MATE uses the traditional desktop metaphor that was abandoned for newer GNOME 3.x releases. All of the GNOME parts that have been forked have been renamed, so that they don't conflict with GNOME 3.x applications, but otherwise the functionality and behavior is exactly the same as it was in GNOME 2.32.x. For example, the Nautilus file manager is now named Caja in MATE, the Evince document viewer is now Atril and the File-Roller archive manager is now Engrampa.   About Salix oS Salix OS is a Slackware-based Linux distribution that is simple, fast, easy to use and compatible with Slackware Linux. Puppy Linux 5.3.3 "Slacko" edition is an updated version of the lightweight distribution compatible with Slackware Linux 13.37.  Puppy Linux 5.3.3 'Slacko' is an updated release of the recent 5.3.1. It has binary compatibility with Slackware Linux 13.37, which simply means that it is a Puppy built with packages from the Slackware, Salix and Slacky repositories. The main variant has been upgraded with Linux kernel 3.1.10 compiled with Aufs layered file system support, in the typical Puppy manner. There is also a PAE variant to cater for machines with large amounts of RAM. Both ISO images have SCSI boot support. The SeaMonkey 2.9.1 suite is the default browser and email suite but Firefox, Chromium, Opera, Netsurf, Iron, Dillo and Links are only a few clicks away.   About Puppy Puppy Linux is yet another Linux distribution. What's different here is that Puppy is extraordinarily small, yet quite full-featured. Puppy boots into a ramdisk and, unlike live CD distributions that have to keep pulling stuff off the CD, it loads into RAM. This means that all applications start in the blink of an eye and respond to user input instantly. Puppy Linux has the ability to boot off a flash card or any USB memory device, CDROM, Zip disk or LS/120/240 Superdisk, floppy disks, internal hard drive. It can even use a multisession formatted CD-RW/DVD-RW to save everything back to the CD/DVD with no hard drive required at all. Swift Linux 0.2.0 is a lightweight desktop distribution with IceWM - now based on Linux Mint's "Debian" edition. Version 0.2.0 of Swift Linux is now available.
