IPFire 2.11 Core 56 is a new stable release of the project's specialist distribution for firewalls. It is a minor bug-fix and security update. The most exciting new feature can be found in the pre-installed images that automatically scale up the partitions at first boot. If you use a 8 GB SD card, you install the 2 GB image and it will grow the partition sizes to use all space that is available on that SD card. Note: The minimum required size of Flash media has changed from 1 GB to 2 GB. This is because the / partition was too small for installing bigger add-ons. An update of OpenSSL to version 0.9.8t fixes a security flaw that could be exploited in a denial of service attack. About IPFire IPFire is a Linux distribution that focusses on easy setup, good handling and high level of security. It is operated via an intuitive web-based interface which offers many configuration options for beginning and experienced system administrators. IPFire is maintained by developers who are concerned about security and who update the product regularly to keep it secure. IPFire ships with a custom package manager called Pakfire and the system can be expanded with various add-ons.
