Zyxware recently conducted a session on GIMP for dentists. The workshop was conducted on the 17th of December, 2012. This was as part of a workshop organised by Indian Dental Association for their members on photography and photo editing. Zyxware conducted a 4 hour session on photo editing using GIMP, a Free Software Tool. Photography and photo editing are important skills for the modern day dentist given the requirements of documentation and research and communication with patients. Recognising the need for training for dentists in these areas, the IDA has taken an important step by organising this workshop. That they have chosen Free Software Tools like GIMP is commendable.

Zyxware Technologies is now a Technology Partner for QUEST Alliance in the Skills to Succeed Program which is a global corporate citizenship initiative of Accenture.

QUEST Alliance was founded in the year 2005 as a program of the International Youth Foundation (IYF), financially supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to help educators and educational institutions drive the use of technology in teaching and learning.

Zyxware Technologies have successfully done industrial training for 28 students of Semester 5, Computer Engineering Students of Central Polytechnic College, Vattiyoorkavu, Thiruvananthapuram. The objective of the training was to make the students familiar about the different departments and process in Zyxware Technologies and also equip the students with the fast growing developments in the field of Engineering and Technology.

Zyxware conducted a half day workshop on BASH scripting on 15th September at TKM College of Engineering, Kollam. The workshop was conducted as part of the Kerala State Students Convention organized by Computer Society of India at the college. The workshop was open to students from the different CSI chapters across Kerala.

Zyxware conducted a one day workshop on Python on 11th June at CDAC Trivandrum. The workshop was targeted at experienced developers who were about to take on a new Python project. The full day workshop was attended by 8 participants from CDAC, Trivandrum.

CSI Trivandrum and Zyxware conducted a one day workshop on Python on 28th July at Hotel Keys. The workshop was targeted at new developers who are interested in learning python. The full day workshop was attended by 28 participants from across different organisations in Trivandrum.

Zyxware had been working with Computer Society of India(CSI) Trivandrum Chapter to organise workshops and training programs on various technologies. To take this relationship forward, Zyxware Technologies and CSI, Trivandrum Chapter have entered into an MoU. Through this MoU Zyxware and CSI Trivandrum will be partnering with each other to offer training programmes in Information Technology.

Zyxware was invited to participate in the recently conducted ICFOSS Interaction with Small and Medium Enterprises on SME IT Requirements and FOSS. The meeting was organized at Kochi for SMEs in Central Kerala. At the interaction we presented our ideas about how a Small business can take the first steps towards enabling their businesses with IT. Online testing was an idea we stumbled upon when we were looking for an efficient and scalable way to select people who had good programming capabilities. Our earlier approach to selection of programmers was to shortlist based on the resume and call the person for an interview where we gave them a small programming task. And then we had the technical and HR interviews as well. But, in our view, this approach had a couple of weaknesses and we think these have effectively been taken care of by the new online testing approach.

Zyxware was invited to participate in the recently conducted ICFOSS Consultation of “Future Directions of Free Software in Kerala” held at Tejaswini, Tehcnopark on 9th August 2011.
