Windows XP installation problem in Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU
Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU was launched by HP-Compaq some times in October, 2008. We have received many enquiries regarding installation Windows XP in this machine. Installing Windows XP was not possible at all. There are quite a lot of people who are facing problems with installing Windows XP in this laptop. Here is a solution provided by the manufacturer to rectify this issue. There is no guarantee that this will work perfectly. We have not tried these steps yet. If you are trying to, it is purely at your own risk.

You would require drivers for Windows also for the laptop. Check here to Download drivers for Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU laptop. Kindly check below for more information regarding installing Windows.
Step 1:-- Enabling Audio:
You need to flash the BIOS to F.11C as given below :
**Copy the all the files from BIOS folder to a DOS bootable Thumb drive
**Boot the notebook via dos bootable thumb drive (press F9 to select Flash drive boot)
**At the DOS command prompt , i.e, C:\ type Flash.bat and shutdown the notebook after completing the BIOS flashing. (this may take 25 to 30 seconds)
Step 2:-- Installing O.S :
Suggested : WinXP SP3 Bootable Disc with ACHI driver ready O.S image (can be done using nlite)
Note :-- u needn't have any Floppy drive under this process
Step 3:-- Installing Drivers : (Install from the Drivers DVD - already given)
The above 3steps completes the Entire Installation process.

USB optical mouse doesn't work with Compaq Presario CQ40
Could you please help with this issue that I can't use external USB optical mouse in my laptop (CQ40)? At the first time I plugged into the USB port, it seems detected and worked for about 5 sec and mouse pointer stopped. Following attempts were failed and message mentions that the USB device is not recognized. I'm using Win XP on Compaq Presario CQ40. Could you kindly help me with this?
XP Installation prob
I have CQ40-108TU notebook with windows-xp. I am facing many problems now. My system gets hang, sometimes do not shut down properly. When I use pen-drive in my system, this make my system hang or processing slow. I do not understand that this is due to downgrade vista based system into xp or it's virus. I have avast 4.8 in my system. But after scanning I don't find any virust in my system. Plz suggest that whether I install windows vista or is there any way to go further with xp, becz I want to continue with xp. My laptop doesn't support to install xp now. It shows error msg as- 0x0000007B (0xF7C1E524,0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).

Hi. I tried the process and i was able to change my BIOS settings, but there is still an error / blue screen just like the first time i tried XP when i had a higher BIOS system. I need your help ASAP.

window vista is very useless for doing our work but windows xp is useful for us.tere are so many kind of problems in installing windows xp in my laptop. at present or in future how can i made my laptop becoming USEFUL for me. kindly give me right sugestion ?
