I use the Compaq C700 laptop in home for personal use, where I found that the Laptop gets heated in few minutes after starting using, even in the room where the temperature is 18-20degree

Is this faced by most of the people or only by me ?

IS there any way to increase the speed of the CPU FAN, so that the motherboard/CPU dosn't gets that much heated

i couldnt understand a few statements by you. they are,
now why would someone buy vista for this PC when longhorn server 2008 is for free for trial run for 240 days. and M$ gives no care if you remove it on 240 th day and reinstall. its as good as vista. aero will not work. and frankly aero install is all good as committing suicide. and secondly the DEP is on and you can select increase virtual memory to 2 GB+ or 4 GB+ (aka swap in linux) and also click on performance than looks. and why on a 512 mb ram will you install 3dsmax??
its like O_o o_o o_o o_O 0_o o_0 any heavy gui related tool is a processor and ram hogger why will someone run those on a 512 ram and 1.8 gigs. and second will be why will someone buy ubuntu? ???
its like 0_o o_0 again. ubuntu is for free download. i have never used ubuntu. i am as happy as a dumb duck with debian sid/testing and linux from scratch and most importantly? why buy vista and ubuntu when you can download for free longhorn aka 2008 server and debian and install? isnt it?
and lastly? the lid issue. the lid is closed and opened via a small tungsten spring. and if you got a screw driver hex shape and size cross 0 and cross 1 cross as in a cross inside a cricle you can open it up and fix the issues yourself. and secondly this laptop's only issue according to me? is none other than the keyboard and touchpad. and i had to get both replaced under the warranty (may be because i am a coder and i type and punch too much codes in the vi editor) else this laptop if you ask me IIRC would be the best laptop/notebook which is true value for money. and seriously i am also happy with the linuxant's 14.4 mb driver. why? i mostly use that for remote dialup for remote assistance and for that that 14.4 kbps is like a whooping speed for trouble shooting. and 3rd ly? with freenx you can get a decent remote gui for that 14.4 kbps modem. thus. i guess i can say? once again GNU/OpenSource/FreeSoftware saved the day from a dead hog wash. and also? before you buy the notebook i guess you got the right as a customer to open the package and check if the things inside the package are intact. i.e. shake well before use. didnt you do that?
whats the max may i have to say. this is certainly the best notebook (my views and not forced/implied by any) and also a true value for money, and ideal for students and every penny pinching miser who wants a full refund via usage for the money spent on any product.
if i have to rate this? i will give it 5.0/5.0 not a .x point less and will recommend also to others. and you dont need a pirated copy of XP or Vista to run this marvel, you just need GNU/OpenSource/FreeSoftwares else windows server 2008 (HPC) aka longhorn aka vista server.

I have been reading all your posts since three months now . I have been facing the same problem with C734TU.. The mic does not work and the lappy as well as headphones give sound together. I have been constantly mailing and following up with HP but ALAS ! no solution. Honestly Its a PITY to know that a well reputed firm like HP has done something like this.. manufactured a product which is incompatible with major OS's and not providing the right information to the customers while selling their products.

Girls and GUys... I hv given it up... I dont think there would ever be a solution for this problem. I, as an individual is so helpless. Lil, do these cheaters realise how frustrating it is to own a product for which you have paid but are unable to use it the way you wish to!

i had compaq c734tu notebook and what the problem is after inserting headphone jack into its output the sound comes in both i.e in laptop speakers and also in headphone

but actually after inserting headphone laptop speaker should be muted and audio should be only in headphone

But, while the video driver link did not work totally, the audio driver that I downloaded with your link could not install audio with your procedure. It showed error(code10).

I have installed Ubuntu 7.10 as well, believe me its a wonderful OS, I am now thinking to uninstall WIN XP, but the mic problem is unsolved in linux also. Mr. Joju Joshua could u pls help me out as whenever i plug in the headphones, they don,t work with Ubuntu, i only get sound from the laptop speakers.

I brought a Compaq Presario C754 TU on 03-04-2007. Firstly I faced the issue of drivers in Win-xp but being uninterested in using pirated xp, I installed Gutsy Gibbon. The troubles I had with hardware now were that the speakers remained to be on even when the headphone was plugged in and the webcam light remained on all the time.
On the 5th day of my purchase, I found out that the lid of the laptop, when closed, had a 10 mm gap, without being completely closed. It didn’t have such problems when placed horizontally on a flat surface. But when it is placed vertically on its hinges, it exhibited this tendency to remain slightly open. You would be knowing that this series does not have a click lock mechanism as the other laptops and the whole notebook depended on the internal spring mechanism of the Hinges to remain locked. I had doubts about it the very first time I saw, but had relied on the reputation of hp as a notebook maker. The worst part is that I had referred the same lap to 2 of my friends and one of them is having the same trouble. The issue is not a trivial one. When placed inside the carry case, it remained open by 10 mm like a harmonium, and with the movements of the bag, it constantly closed and opened to the same 10 mm gap.

The next issue is when I was working on it. When the fan in my room was put in full speed, the lid that is, the screen, slightly shook like a piece of thin metal sheet. This could be due to two reasons. One, the slim construction of the lid and the disability of the hinges to hold the lid firmly.

I took it to hp service in Calicut and I found the same trouble with another notebook of the same series which was brought for service. But the owner seemed to have not interest in the issue as he was making fuss about installing 3D Max in Vista.

With all the experience that I have with laptops, I strongly opine that such a trouble with the hinges would definitely aggravate in the future.

The hp personals took some pics and have sent it to hp and I’m waiting for the response. If it’s not a favorable one, I am even thinking about approaching the consumer court. I have 4 people who have the same trouble and we are planning about clubbing our complaint.

I need replacement. I would like to hear the opinion of Team Zyxware.

Thanks for saving me. Do Keep up the good work. The drivers installed fine, i am a nerd at computer, but i just double clicked the exe's and all ran well. Restarted my laptop and now its working fine with XP.

first let me thank u for providing all the links for my laptop driver which my own dealer (focus computers,trivandrum) was not able to provide me from where i purchased my c734tu laptop. you guys are great. keep up the good work and i will give maximum publicity for your firm for sure.

im not able to install any of the drivers for this laptop. I've reinstalled windows XP thinking it may fix it but no, same problem. I've tried installing the drivers manually from device manager but windows cannot find the software. Im in a dilemma what to do now. Will installing Windows 2000 fix the problem or shud i throw this laptop.
