Compaq Presario C751NR Laptop Drivers for Windows XP
HP Compaq has a model of laptop - Presario C751NR. This is a US based model. Drivers for Windows XP is not available in their site, if ever you think of installing XP. This model of laptop is specifically designed for Windows Vista. The drivers are not tested for Windows XP. Neither Zyxware nor HP assures any guarantee that the drivers will work perfectly in XP. Installation Instructions :
1. Download the spXXXXX.EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Restart the notebook when the installation is complete.

This is a common problem with all HP-Compaq laptops. All latest models are designed to work only with Windows Vista. The company does not support use of XP in any of their products. The problem occurs due to driver incompatibility. All latest laptops come with latest hardware which require latest drivers. But drivers for XP are of older version.
One suggestion is to use Windows Vista.
But I would like to request you to use GNU/Linux. They are very simple to use and available for free download on internet. Some names include - Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mandriva, OpenSuse etc.
Compaq Presario C751LA came with Windows Vista, right?

I have noticed that in the hp drivers web page (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&lang=...), I can't find the XP audio drivers, and the wirelles internet conection drivers.

Could not find MEDIA device for this driver.
I thought that I had found all the drivers in one location finally. Seems that the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) was going to fix
the audio and modem because seems to have recognized new entries in Device Manager. I tried installing the Audio and Modem drivers from the
this website. Using the following instructions.
After downloading and installing UAA driver, restart the Notebook and then install Audio Driver:

Both failed with this message as well:

Driver error
Same model of laptops can contain hardware of different make. Hence the drivers needed also vary. I believe the hardware in your machine not for the drivers given here. Please try installing alternate drivers of the same series.

Drivers for XP for Compaq Presario C751NR
In order to install WinXP on c751nr download chipset driver, video driver and INF update utility from intel.com, install them. Then download the UAA driver from microsoft.com (kb111888.exe). Alternatively, you can use Windows Update, it will install the driver automatically. Once that is done, the Device Manager will find sound card and modem and will suggest to install drivers for them - choose the option to install the drivers through Windows Update - both drivers will be installed and will work without any problems. After that install drivers for ALPS - you can find them at the HP site, drivers from a different laptop model will do the trick. Finally, install WiFi drivers that can be found here: atheros.cz - use the latest version of the WHQL signed (that's important, unsigned drivers won't work) drivers for 5006EG. Drivers for the network card are installed by Windows during installation. Looks like this is it - good luck.

thank you for your co-operation. But I am afraid I will not be able to provide you storage space of any kind. If you have noticed, we ourselves are not keeping any drivers with us, as these are the property of the manufacturer and many of these drivers are stored in the ftp servers of the company. We just provide the links pointing to the same. If you could post the links here, it would be really helpful.
I don't think there is a requirement for a second place to store for these files, as they are already present on the web. It is just that we have to spend some time and search for them.

These drivers do not work at all.
NONE of the drivers worked on my C751NR, except for the Chipset, the Quick Launch buttons and the Touchpad, which gave no errors on install.

Audio: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30D9
Modem: HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_5051&SUBSYS_103C30D9
Network: Realtek 8139 and using standard Windows drivers (not a Marvell).
Wireless: used the ones for AR5006X from atheros.cz
Touchpad: Using ALPS drivers, SP31075
This machine has no card reader.
None of the mentioned hardware IDs are found inside the .inf files of the drivers.
Any clues?

Audio driver problem
I am having the same problem with the audio driver, the first installs correctly at which point windows recognizes an audio device and prompts for driver installation. I cancel and attempt the second part but it errors with the message: Driver Installation Failed: Could not find MEDIA device for this driver. Thanks for any help

The driver must be different for you.
Normally drivers are common for all C700 series laptops. Kindly try drivers for the same device from other laptop entries in our website.

i installed the linked xp drivers for my downgraded C751nr, however while the sound card now works i have no volume controll, is this something that can be easily fixed or should i just run no sound?
