Compaq Presario V3611AU Laptop Drivers for Windows XP

HP-Compaq has a Presario model laptop - Presario V3611AU. It comes with an AMD Turion Processor, 512MB DDR2 RAM, 120GB SATA HDD, 8X SuperMulti DVD Writer, 14.1" Widescreen and more. They do not provide drivers for this laptop for any Operating Sysem other than Windows Vista, in their website. Here are the links for its drivers for Windows XP.

You can either click on the links or copy and paste them to a new window to download these drivers. We have provided alternate drivers also. Please try the alternate ones if the first one does not work for you

This model of Presario has an audio controller that supports the high
definition audio. You need to have Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture
(UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio installed on the computer
before installing the audio driver.

Installing this driver may result in an error. But continue with the
following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.

1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click
Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to
install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the
list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp36408 (or sp33543) folder and then double click the V32
folder. Select the .inf file, click open and Continue with the onscreen
instructions.

Installation Instructions :

1. Download the .exe file to a directory on your hard drive.

Hellooo....
Can any body help me? My Compaq Presario V3611AU Laptop goes blank while working. And for the last few days, suddenly my Laptop Restarts ( It happens only when i use restart option, if i go for shut down option and again switch on the laptop, the problem solves automatically) i am using XP 32 bit service pack 2. Quick Heal Total Security Anti virus.
But my problem is the Display..... plz help me......... and the Card Reader Host Controller ( Currently using-SP32825)and Ethernet controller are too not working........ and the rest are ok.

Hi,

Mine is a Cq 3611au notebook, just couple of months old. All the drivers have been installed properly. The only issue is that at times the display goes blank with LCDs on the laptop glowing, does not respond to any keystrokes. Then, we will have to forcefully shut down the machine and restart it. Earlier on, the issue was abrupt restarting but ever since I changed the following setting, System Properties --> Advanced --> Startup and Recovery (Settings); uncheck the option Automatically Restart under System Failure, now instead of restarting the display goes blank and unresponsive.

I guess this must be an issue with some Driver compatibility or BIOS. Any help on this matter would be deeply appreciated.

I'm facing a Problem installing audio and modem drivers for Compaq C772TU on a XP service pack 2 operating system. After reading your suggestion i tried to do what i ve read on the www.zyxware.com site.
I have download the Universal Audio Architecture Bus Driver from www.zyware.com, but to my surprise i found out that both the Universal Audio Architecture Bus Driver and the audio driver have the same file name (i.e sp32646.exe). I think that was the reason i could'nt find the "Audio device on high definition audio bus" , as you have mentioned , anywhere in the device manager.... I thing both the UAA Bus driver and the audio are the same. If so, can you please keep the UAA Bus Driver in the www.zyxware.com site
I'm badly waiting for the sound driver to work. Please help me out as early as possible. The www.zyxware.com is a very helpful site and i am very much grateful and deeply appreciated the efforts of each and everyone.

Hi,
I have installed all the drivers, face some problem with VGA, but solved after down loading NVIDIA 32bit ForceWare GeForce Go 156.55

Just one problem still to be solved is the dual sound. While the laptp speaker is on, if I plug in the head set, dual sound is occuring.

But if I plug in the head set while lap top speaker is in mute, and later on it while the head set is in place, it (head set) works without any problem and lap top speaker goes off.

Is there any perfect way to solve it.

Hello,

Let me tell you that all the latest model laptops from HP-Compaq are designed for Vista only and the company does not support XP. The drivers given above are not tested properly with XP and so there is no guarantee that these will work perfectly with XP because these drivers are of previous versions and the drivers and hardware in the laptop are of latest versions.
One way to get over with this problem is to install Vista. Another alternative is to try out alternate drivers. But we would like to suggest you to use GNU/Linux and all the latest distributions are easy to configure and use.

i just bought compaq presario V3611AU laptop month back, all the driver are installed by vendor itself, but suddenly some problem with my mice , i can not do voice chat because other people can not hear my voice, even sound recorder utility is not recording, but for some times it suddenly works and for some time sound recording disappezrs, i have xp sp2 installed, what speaker is working very much good.
i have tried all the settings whatever i found to do. so please tell me is this notebook have this generic problem or any of sound driver is sot properly installed, audio driver is from conexant in my laptop, please reply fast my head is getting stuck for this problem, thanks in advance, hope u have the solution, please revert back

This is not a generic problem with this model. This is a general problem faced in Compaq Presario Laptops. These laptops are designed for Windows Vista only. Even the company does not recommend XP. All the hardware and drivers are of latest versions, such glitches happen because the drivers for Windows XP are of old version. One way to get rid of this is to install Vista and you can find all the links for drivers in the company's website itself. Another way is to try alternate drivers. But neither Zyxware nor HP-Compaq can give you any guarantee that the drivers for XP will work perfectly on the laptop as they are not tested with XP. Another suggestion that we would like to put forth is to install GNU/Linux. All latest distributions of GNU/Linux are easy to configure and use. You can try out some namely Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuse. If you reside in India, you can use our CD/DVD Request Module to order your copy and get delivered them at your doorstep.

restart your machine.

then go to device manager ..right click on high definition audio and install SP34386

I don't think what your vendor had told you is right. You can definitely install Windows in your system. We would suggest you to install Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon), which is one simple version of Linux and very user friendly too. Only thing you need is to free about 6-7GB of HDD space and create an Ext3 partition to install it. You can do this while installing Linux. You can download the latest version of Ubuntu from their website http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu.
We also provide all kinds of Free and Open Source Softwares for free. You can use our CD/DVD Request module to order your copy. The software is free, but we would charge you for the blank media and shipping.

Do not use the chipset drivers from that link, u can use any other driver but not the chipset, video drivers.

you can use the universal audio driver the sound card driver the modem driver the touch pad driver, but the rest are best from this page itself.

This model comes only with a FreeDOS. So I do not think there is any kind of recovery CD or a recovery partition along with the machine. First of all, thanks for this chain of messages about drivers for Presario V3611AU. This is very much useful for everyone. I bought Compaq Presario V3611AU a month back. I was stuck with some driver issues, especially Ethernet controller,SMbus Controller was not getting installed properly.

I downloaded the link mentioned by Ankur, 14.10_nforce_630a_winxp_english_whq. This works perfectly well for my notebook. Thanks for Ankur. They said there is hidden partition on which the Quickplay is installed. and since i have removed changes the partition system so it wont contain the quickplay.

Yes the drives worked for me. But now i have installed Vista on system and i got all the drivers for vista. but still the device manager is showing one "unknown device" . Its something "Microsoft ACPI.....".

But even after migrating to Vista the problem is same that i am not able to use Quickplay. I have dowloaded quicplay from HP site but while installking it is asking for "HP DVD Play version 3.0 or more". and installation aborts

Please suggest how can i get this quickplay workin for me.

Regarding advrcntr2.dll, I guess you should try re-installing Windows XP. Please make sure that you have a legal and licensed version of Windows with you, so as to avoid piracy issue. The dll file might get reinstalled through this procedure.
Also make sure that you have Service Pack 2 installed for Windows XP.
Regarding video, have you tried the driver given in our website?

Hi,

Thanks for the assistance that this team has provided me and now I like to contribute to this team.

The 3611au comes with an AMD Ahtlon 64X2 TK-55 processor which happens to be a mobile dual core series processor.
when you intsall XP (since I have this on my laptop) the battery performance is not so gud, it gives only about 1hour 45min or so...
also the cpu fan and cr-rom fan make a lot of noise/sound......

To solve this and increase performance install this update " AMD Power Monitor Version 1.2.0"
There are older version available but the AMD web site has the latest one released in Jan 2008

If your team puts up this as one of the downloadable software along with the present list it should help a lot of the laptop buyers making them a much more happier/satisfied customer like me :)

After installing this software I get a 2hours 10mins of backup time an increase of 20 min almost and thats quite a lot......

Sir,
I bought a Compaq V3611AU laptop that came with Win XP installed on it by the vendor. Owing to system freezes i reinstalled XP SP2 and the drivers as given on your website. Though i had to use the Ethernet driver that was given by the vendor along with the system as the one given on the website did not match the hardware as per windows.
Inspite of having installed everything i found that the device manager still shows "sm bus", and an "unknown device" not properly installed. The system works fine except for the fact that even though i connect my headphone to the system the built in speakers are not shut off and the sound plays on both of them.
I would be greatly obliged if you would kindly suggest a way out of this problem.

My Name is ankur, And I bought this laptop just 2 week back and had same issues....so I found that a driver called "14.10_nforce_630a_winxp_english_whq" works perfectly it installs the exact chipset drivers including the modem driver also, after this install the display drivers, the UAA driver the Audio driver, and all the drivers of the list provided on this page..........All the best, enjoy!

Can you please tell me the exact error message that you see when you try to install RHEL? I have not seen any issue with IDE or SATA drivers while installing GNU/Linux. You can also try the text mode installation to see more detailed error messages. If RHEL does not work try Ubuntu. Try to install from the Live CD and if that does not work, try to install from the Alternate Install CD. You can request for an alternate install CD from here

Thats the realtek two drivers and marvell's none of them get installed properly.....there is a code 10 error shown on the device driver page.....and it says the device cannot be started.....

Please do help me with these...........There is one more thing the chipset drivers are also new....the ones provided on this site are not working any longer.........now its nForce 630i/7150
from the nvidia site......

Also have you installed UAA High Definition Audio drivers before you installed the audio and modem drivers? To install UAA, you need to have Service Pack 2. Thank you so much for help I have found on here.

I am having trouble however with the ethernet installation and have tried 3 above drivers.

I also have in device manager a (!) next to the following:

NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator

Base System Device
Base System Device
Base System Device
HP Integrated Module
Unknown device

I was wondering and hoping if anyone can advise

Please try installing the drivers manually. In a normal case, that should work.
Do you have Service Pack 2 installed for Windows? If not, please install that first before you do anything else.

Fatal error when installing VGA Driver

All other Driver Installation fine. But when I am installing NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Graphics Driver I am getting Fatal Error with Blue Screen and laptop restarts. The VGA Driver will not be Installed.

It asks for the .ini file twice and error comes for 2nd file named something nv**.sys_

Even NVIDIA nForce 630M Chipset Driver have to be installed manually. Is this has something to do with above error.

Please suggest me any work around for this error.

The 1st link works for the Error....

When we install the Driver of 1st link... we get the same error and System Restarts....But after restarting it automatically picks up Drivers and sets it... :)

Conclusion : It Works !!!!

Dual OS in Presario V3611AU

Have anyone tried to load Windows XP/Vista and Red Hat Linux in V3611AU? I tried to load XP/Vista first, it went fine. But when i tried to install Linux, it didn't work stating the hard drives are not detected. I re-formatted the partitions and first installed Linux, it took pretty good. Followed by Windows, partitions are not detected.

Any clues to proceed?

The links given above point towards HP's ftp site. These are available from HP. We had provided only the links. HP does not provide these drivers in a CD. You will have to download them and install by following the onscreen instructions. They are not complicated. Its just a matter of clicking the next button.

I tried install option from liveCD but it gives me some error and goes into command prompt. The safe graphics mode things work just fine.

Am I missing something obvious here ?

Will it be possible for you to prepare a CD that will have the right modification for my model with all the necessary drivers ?

What exactly is the error message that you see when you try to boot into the live CD? If safe graphics mode works fine you can continue and install Ubuntu on to a new partition. Once installation is complete you can boot into the Ubuntu installation and you would be given an option to pick your graphics card driver if there is a problem. Once you start your X session you can use the restricted drivers utility to enable the NVIDIA drivers and you should be ready to use your full capability of your graphics card.

Sound driver not installing in v3611au

Hi all,

Congrats !!!!!!!!!! for getting a good laptop (v3611au). Just thought of adding to the effort by this organization. I had some difficulty installing the above sound driver for my laptop. I found another driver download for AMD which resolved my issue with sound. You may also try the driver from the link below if you face any difficult with the above sound driver.

This also will not install the driver directly . You will have to force install it. Follow the same steps above to force install it.

Please note you do the following before installing this driver:
1) Install the Microsoft UAA a driver from the weblink below ( mandatory):

2) Uninstall any Conexant sound driver that is listed under "Sound, video and game controllers" category in device manager of your previous attempts. You will find it with yellow ! mark and device status with (code 39) error.
