We are happy to announce total support for Ubuntu for users across India. We have been successfully offering this to our customers in Trivandrum for the last one year and we would like to extend it to all Ubuntu Users in India. Our technical team will assist you over the internet either via chat, telephone or ssh to troubleshoot your Ubuntu related issues.
Support over SSH
If you have an internet connection, all you have to do is to enable ssh on your PC, set up a new user to access ssh and open the ssh port on your computer if you have security settings preventing that and give us a call. If you have questions related to how to get this done you can call our support team to help you out. Once you have ssh enabled our support personnel will login over ssh and troubleshoot your issue remotely.
Support over chat
If you have internet access and you have minor issues that you would like to get assistance with you can give us a call and our support personnel can get online and chat with you to troubleshoot your issue. You will however have to make changes, configurations, settings in your system by yourself as we will not have any access into your system.

Troubles and Doubts in Gutsty
I have a Compaq Presario C754TU. My OS is Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. I am having the following troubles.
1. I am pretty new to open OS and is having trouble in configuring my internet connection. I am using a BSNL Tarang High Speed Dial Up Connection.
It uses a Telson CDMA Handset and the drivers given with it is only for Windows. I dont know anything about configuring internet connection in Linux.
2. I cannot detect my wireless connection in Gutsy. Neither am I able to configure it. It doesn't even detect the presence of wireless hardware.
3. The "webcam on" light is always on. I cannot find the camera or use it, but it's light is always on.
4. My speakers are not disabled when I plug in the headphone into the headphone jack.
5. I cannot configure the screen resolution to the maximum available resolution. I get only a resolution of 1280 x 800.
6. Is there any downloading software like Gigaget or download accelerator for Gutsy?
7. Is there an equivalent of Hibernation in Windows in Ubuntu? That is can enable hibernation in Gutsy?
8. Can I play the windows games like Max Payne I have, in Ubuntu as I heard from someone?
9. Can I connect and Synchronize my Nokia Series 60 Symbian OS Phone to gutsy? Is there any specific Software for it?
10. I still don't get the Battery remaining Time in Gutsy? Also, I heard that Ubuntu consumes less power. Is it true?
11. I plan to upgrade my RAM to 2 GB. Would it be beneficial in any way to any process in Ubuntu? I mean, would there be any markable difference in the speed of any programme if I upgrade to 2 GB RAM or is it just unnecessary?
12. Can I convert the desktop environment to KDE?
Support for Ubuntu
Dear Mr. Sreekumar Panicker,
That is a lot of questions in one go. If you are in or around Trivandrum, I would think the best solution is to bring your Laptop to our office and get the whole thing configured. I will try to answer you questions in order
Yes it should be possible. You should try out wvdial or kppp
2. I cannot detect my wireless connection in Gutsy. Neither am I able to configure it. It doesn't even detect the presence of wireless hardware.
This again is possible with ndiswrapper.
3. The "webcam on" light is always on. I cannot find the camera or use it, but it's light is always on.
Install Ubunty Hardy and your webcam would most likely be supported out of the box
4. My speakers are not disabled when I plug in the headphone into the headphone jack.
Play with the sound driver from System > Preferences > Sound
5. I cannot configure the screen resolution to the maximum available resolution. I get only a resolution of 1280 x 800.
That should be the maximum widescreen resolution for your laptop
6. Is there any downloading software like Gigaget or download accelerator for Gutsy?
You can try d4x, kget or gwget
7. Is there an equivalent of Hibernation in Windows in Ubuntu? That is can enable hibernation in Gutsy?
Yes there is - check out System > Preferences > Power Management
8. Can I play the windows games like Max Payne I have, in Ubuntu as I heard from someone?
Yes you can. Install wine and you can do that.
9. Can I connect and Synchronize my Nokia Series 60 Symbian OS Phone to gutsy? Is there any specific Software for it?
Not all features are guaranteed to work but you can get lot of sync functionalities through sync applications like xgnokii, multisync, gnome pilot etc
10. I still don't get the Battery remaining Time in Gutsy? Also, I heard that Ubuntu consumes less power. Is it true?
Ubuntu has very good power management features and we have not heard about problems.
11. I plan to upgrade my RAM to 2 GB. Would it be beneficial in any way to any process in Ubuntu? I mean, would there be any markable difference in the speed of any programme if I upgrade to 2 GB RAM or is it just unnecessary?
Unless you are running applications that are already using up all of your RAM frequently it might not significantly improve speed. Think about the weakest link theory.
12. Can I convert the desktop environment to KDE?
Of course you can.
Good Job!

System boot up time, increasing with increase in RAM
Hi folks.. I have this weird issue with RAM. I have an old pc with me, and it is a Pentium 550MHz on Intel i810 motherboard and it had 128 MB SDRAM. So recently I thought of upgrading it to 512 MB RAM. So I bought this 256MB X 2 sticks, all 133 MHz ie same speed.
Now the problem is that when I put this 512 MB RAM, the booting time is almost 20 minutes. So I checked it with only 256 MB in the slot and then it took almost 7-8 mins. But initially when I had only 128 MB RAM, it used to take only about 2 - 3 mins. I use Ubuntu 5.10. Can anybody help me out?
Booting problem in Ubuntu with 512MB RAM
Dear Abe,
Initially, when you had 128 MB RAM, you said your computer used to boot up in about 2-3 minutes and after having upgraded to 512MB, it is taking more time. I guess this should be some issue with the SWAP area. What is the size of SWAP partition? Ideally, it should be double the size of RAM in MB. So if you increase your RAM size to 1GB, I believe your system would start normal
cheers
