The legal fraternity in and around Trivandrum district has been demanding for a high court bench in the capital city of Kerala since 1957. The demand is being supported by all political parties and the ruling Government of Kerala. To further mobilize the campaign the supporters had engaged us to set up a website for the protest. The website is expected to add momentum to the protest.
With a view to promote the status of Kerala as an IT Hub, Kerala State IT mission organized yet another IT Show. The theme of Kerala IT.Com 2008 was ‘Kerala – The IT Destination Hub – Cutting edge and Viable solutions through use of IT’. This time the show was hosted at Technopark.

In a bid to promote the GNU/Linux User Group Trivandrum we have decided to offer free hosting plans for members of the group. The only eligibility criteria that we are looking forward to is a minimum level of involvement in the group activities.

We have recently offered free web hosting for the website for Yojana08. Yojana08 is a national level technical symposium organized by the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology of Younus College of Engineering and Technology, Kollam. The event is scheduled from March 12 to March 13.
In a high profile function at the State Capital on 16th January 2008, the INSIGHT Project - ICT centre for differently abled in the state of Kerala was inaugurated. The project is promoted by the Kerala State IT mission (KSITM).

A recent review in Business-World has rated the low bandwidth availability in India as an important factor that could possibly slow down the IT growth rate in India. Some of the aspects discussed included the low penetration of broadband among the populace and the low bandwidth available for the network infrastructure.
It is one thing to learn languages from a book and it is a totally different thing to try out these languages on your PC. Once you get feel of the languages and the technologies the next step is to set up the development and testing environment on your PC. Since we are focusing on web based application development using mostly open technologies we will be covering only these relevant areas.
Freelance projects fall into a separate category of projects in that they target independent developers and are inherently smaller in size. The company/person giving the project, might not require to engage a larger company for the project because of the size of the project or, might be doing it just to cut costs.
The project aims to open up the freelancing market for the Student Community and thereby give tremendous exposure and technologically empower the students. Ultimately this aims to create a vibrant technical forum or even a company owned by students among the students that can nurture innovation and entrepreneurship among the students and promote open ideas, technologies and products.
Freelancing is not just sitting home and earning some extra income, it is in fact a proven career option. Anybody who is capable of working in an IT company should be able to earn as much or even more through freelancing. Besides being a viable employment option for the unemployed, it gives students and non-IT employees an addional revenue source.
Even though Kerala can proudly claim that it has almost 100% literacy rates, the e-literacy rates are dismally low. The younger generation is being initiated into the world of computers through their schools very early in their lives. However the not-so-young generation has missed the bus and of these only those with strong initiative have successfully gotten into the bandwagon.
We started zyxware with a vision to play an active role in changing the world around us positively. We are happy to announce the pilot mode launch of our first community initiative - Freelance@Zyxware. Through this project we hope to empower the student community technologically and financially.
