Steps to install skype in ubuntu14.04?

Skype is a software for instant voice and textual messaging. It is also useful for video calling, ordinary voice conference, screen sharing conference, group conference etc. It can be used for office and personal purpose, interviews etc.

Following commands will help you to install latest version of Skype 4.3 on your Ubuntu 14.04 using terminal.

First remove previously installed version of Skype using the below commands.

sudo apt-get remove skype skype-bin:i386 skype:i386
sudo apt-get install sni-qt:i386
sudo apt-get update

Steps for 32bit OS :

sudo apt-get install gdebi
wget download.skype.com/linux/skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb
sudo gdebi skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb

Steps for 64bit OS :

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gdebi
wget download.skype.com/linux/skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb
sudo gdebi skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_i386.deb
