Compaq Presario F733AU Laptop Drivers for Windows XP

Presario F733AU laptop is another model in HP-Compaq's product line. This laptop comes with an AMD Athlon X2 TK57 (1.9 GHz) processor, 512MB RAM, 120GB hard Disk, Dual Layer DVDRW, Wireless, 15.4" Widescreen, Modem, Built in camera and microphone and it is pre-installed with DOS. You need to install an operating system in to the machine so as to use it. If you are installing Windows, we recommend that you obtain legal and licenced version of the same (Windows XP or Vista) and install it. You can also try installing Linux, which is another operating system that is available free of cost. The manufacturer does not provide drivers for XP. Here are the links for drivers of the same laptop.

Your Presario is shipped with the High definition Audio controller, so you have to first install the Microsoft UAA driver and then install the Audio and Modem drivers. Here is the Microsoft UAA Driver link:

Please do not click on the link, just copy the entire URL and paste it in a new window of Internet Explorer. Then open the link from there.

Installation Instructions :
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Restart the notebook when the installation is complete.
Or
Download the driver to the computer which you are using to chat with me and transfer it to the Notebook using any USB device or copy the drivers to a CD or DVD and install them in the Notebook. Make sure to restart the system after installing the UAA driver and then install Audio driver from the below URL:

Audio Driver:

This will create a swsetup folder in C drive ("C:\swsetup\sp34200")

Installing this driver may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install".
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp34200 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2a) file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.

Modem Driver:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33742.exe

This will create a swsetup folder in C drive ("C:\swsetup\sp33742")

Installation Instructions :

urget problem of F733AU

I have bought a compac presario laptop in march 08 that was abig mistake, loaded,XP os, regitered on line the product asked for support from hp chat since the drivers werent installed, undre their guidence I have installed 5 drivers for the following bellow category, with no result, no help still date to be found, i have check ur site and solution given i have tried a few but still the problem remains.

The area of help required ;indication on laptop

I have downloaded the drivers in a single zipped file from driver majician as seen on one of the posts but when i try to run that file i find that if the file has not been purchased or used by a registered user , only vdo and network card drivers wud be restored -- is that true -- if yes , where can i get all the drivers from . pls help its urgent . Solved - Simultaneous sound from Headphones and laptop speakers

Hi Guyz,

A very easy way to overcome the problem of simultaneous sound from headphones and laptop speakers.
solution :
select sounds and Audio devices from CONTROL PANEL then under VOLUME tab SPEAKER SETTINGS select ADVANCED and then for option SPEAKER SETUP select NO SPEAKERS thats it now click ok and APPLY. Dont forget to select mute to MUTE the laptop speakers.
This really works. 100% works! i worked as HP Laptop Technical Support Executive.

this is not working at all.

this is not working at all. firstly, it does not mute if we select 'mute all' in volume control, instead it need to "mute" the wave in volume control. secondly, the given soln by the hp consultant is not working after following the paths. may be i have a wrong driver, but i am not able to get out of the mic/ audio problem.

I am getting simultaneous audio output from built in speaker and headphone.
also once the headphone plugged in mute button mutes the headphone only not the built in speaker.

Driver issues in Presario F733AU

Dear Sakina,

All the latest models are designed to work with Windows Vista only. There is no guarantee that the drivers for XP will work perfectly. Even the manufacturer does say so. If one is fortunate, the drivers would work, else one option is to switch to Vista. You had mentioned that you are not familiar with it. It is just a matter of giving a try. Everyone had the same familiarity issues when Windows XP was introduced.
Another option we would put forth is to switch to GNU/Linux. All the latest available distributions are very easy to install and configure. You will find a good amount of online support from the respective community. Some of them are OpenSuse, Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Mandriva 2008.
We also provide support for Linux. We provide various distributions of Linux by post to residents of India. If you are interested, you can check out our CD/DVD Request module and get your copy.
Please note that the softwares are absolutely free, but we will charge you for CD or DVD and shipping.

F733AU Compaq laptop Audio problem

Hi,
I got your id from one of the forums.

I recently bought F733AU Compaq laptop & Installed Win XP professional (64 bit version). However I am not able to find the right drivers (Audio,WIFI, LAN) from any of the sites. When I tried to install, it states these drivers are not for WIN XP 64 bit version.

I have tried
audio drivers (SP34200,SP32646, SP32557, SP32898) after installing the MSUAA driver first but all give the above error.
LAN driver : SP33742
WIFI driver: SP36684, SP34152

Can please help me out to solve this issues, at least any one of the above..

The drivers given here are for Windows XP 32bit. I shall try to find out drivers for the 64 bit version. Could you please let me know the serial number and product number of your laptop. F733au Headphone Issue resolved

For all those who are having problems with the F733AU headphones and speakers try the following

Install Microsoft UAA Driver as mentioned.
Then download the zip file "sounds.zip" from http://www.jszgfood.com/sound.zip
Unzip to a folder,then use Device Manager to install.
Device Manager>Audio device on HD Bus
Right click, Update Driver
Say "no, not at this time" for connecting to Windows Update
Install from a list or specific location
Don't search I will choose the driver to install
In the list of common hardware types, scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk"
Next...browse to the unzipped driver folder.
Choose the WiSVHe5.inf ,and Ignore XP when it complains

Hope this works for you , it did for my F733AU.

I installed UAA Driver and Audio Driver and now the sound does work properly in XP.
But I hear audio from speakers and headphones when i connect headphones.

u said to update the driver by using "Audio on HD Device" in my computer->manage.

but once i install the original audio driver, i no longer see this option in manage.
so which device should i update to get this problem resolved.

Audio driver problem I installed UAA Driver

Dear Manoj,
Let me remind you that all the latest laptops contain hardwares of latest version. And these are designed to work with Windows Vista only. There is no guarantee from the manufacturer that these drivers for XP will work perfectly. If one link does not work, the option is to try alternate links.
The problem that you are facing is a general issue which a number of people who own Compaq Presario laptops are facing. This happens because of incompatibility of drivers of older version with hardware of latest version. As I had mentioned above, the option you have is to try alternate links, but there is no guarantee.
Another option we would like to suggest is to use GNU/Linux. All latest flavors of Linux are simple and easy to configure and use and tons of help are available from various online communities. Some names include Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Mandriva, Mint Linux, Fedora and these are available for free download from the internet. If you are interested in trying out Linux, but find it difficult to download, we can provide you the same via post. You check out our CD/DVD Request for the list of applications available with us. F733AU Compaq laptop

Hi,

I have tried
audio drivers (SP34200,SP32646, SP32557, SP32898) after installing the MSUAA driver first but all give the above error.
LAN driver : SP33742
WIFI driver: SP36684, SP34152

Can please help me out to solve this issues, at least any one of the above..

The driver links above are for Windows XP 32bit. I believe that is why you are receiving errors.

Audio Problem

I Bought new laptop model - Compaq Presario F733AU.
OS - Windows XP.

When i insert my headphone the sound of the laptop speaker continue as well as i can hear sound in headphones. wat could be problem is something wrong with headphone pin or driver is not installed properly.

Audio problem in Presario F733AU

This not a a problem with the pin or hardware. This is just a driver version problem. As all the latest laptops are designed for Windows Vista, the hardware inside and their drivers are all of latest versions. But the drivers for XP are older ones and they are not tested with XP. The company will not give you any guarantee regarding its working with XP.
Try the steps given in the post on How to resolve audio problem in Compaq Presario Laptops but with the drivers that you have in your hand.

I have bought Compaq Presarrio F733AU and have installed XP on it but i couldn't find my wi-fi driver. I tried getting the driver but couldn't find that.
Again i tried vista but still couldn't get the driver for it.

hi,

i hav recently purchased compaq presario f733au. i just want to know are there any drivers to work with the keys. i mean the multimedia keys. when i increase or decrease the volume through the keyboard it is unable to show it on the screen n unable to use the other keys also and i want to know how to change the screen color settings using keyboard,volume mute etc.., in short working with the keypad. i'l b very greatful to you people if i can get the help.

hi. i have Compaq Presario F733AU Laptop. i need d Microsoft UAA and HP Quick Launch Button Drivers for Windows XP. i tried to download it from ur website but culdn't get thru. i think there is some problem with Compaq website URL. i m receiving d following msg after clicking the URL.

Audio problem

Dear Manoj,

Kindly check the given links for some alternate drivers. As the manufacturer does not give any guarantee regarding working of these drivers in Windows XP, we also cannot assure you. Only thing we can tell you is to try out different alternate drivers.
Same time, we would suggest you to install Linux, which would be a better alternative. All the latest flavors of Linux are more easier to use and configure. Some of them are Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) (www.ubuntu.com), Mandriva Linux, Open Suse etc. You can even get it from Zyxware using our CD/DVD Request module.

HP-Compaq had given all the drivers for Vista for the same laptop in their website. If you are planning to install Vista, you can download all the drivers from HP's website. We would strongly urge you to get legal and license version of Windows, if you are planning to install.
Another best alternative that we can suggest is installing GNU/Linux in your laptop. have followed all the procedure shown in this page stil my laptop (Compaq F733AU) is not able to load the I drivers for Ethernet Controller, Co-processor, Wireless LAN and LAN drivers.

Also I am facing the sound driver problem, i.e. even if I mutes it from the contro panel and from the keyboard it still sounds from any audio application. I have sp34200 installed for this and I have also followed the process given at (Audio and Microphone Problem in Presario C733TU laptop) post given above.

Please help, waiting for your reply.

Presario F756CA XP Pro SP2 - Microphone not working

Hi, I have a compaq presario F756ca with XP pro SP2. I've managed to get all the drivers installed and working except for a problem with the microphone not working. Sound is working, and volume is working properly now.. I've tried many combinations of drivers but with no success on getting the microphone to work. Additionally, the headset works but when I unplug it from the laptop, the sound on the laptop doesn't play until I adjust the master volume level either up or down. Then the laptop speakers work again. Can please help me to solve this issue??..

Hi,

I came across your website http://www.zyxware.com/articles/2008/01/23/compaq-presario-f733au-laptop..., and found it really helpfull for me. every thing seems to be working fine but two things are bothering me .........

1 Once the headphone is plugged in the headphone jack it works fine but the laptop speakers also gives the sound.
2 Microphone (external & Inbuilt) does not work at all..

I was wondering if you can help me out. And more over all the functions are not able to viewed or accessible of the audio volume control.
